Italian Mazzucchelli 1849 acetate.
Cut from the same cellulose-acetate blocks Mazzucchelli has poured since 1849. Every Soletti frame is sliced and shaped by hand, then tumbled for seventy-two hours. The polish is what acetate does when it is left alone long enough.

The Picaso is the warm-weather frame. Pale tortoise — the colour of dry grass at the end of August — and a lens cut amber, because the amber lens is the one a man wears reading on a deck in July without realizing the sun has moved.
I gave my atelier one rule for the Picaso: it must age. Not survive — age. The brass hinge will darken, the acetate will soften, the lens will pick up a small scratch from a cloth napkin and we will replace it for free for life. A frame that is designed to age is the only kind worth wearing in the sun.
We paired it with the Yacht-Master 42 in yellow gold because both pieces share a single trait: they get better outside.
