Cut from the same cellulose-acetate blocks Mazzucchelli has poured since 1849. Every Soletti frame is sliced and shaped by hand, then tumbled for seventy-two hours. The polish is what acetate does when it is left alone long enough.

The Bowie is the dress frame. Slim beta-titanium, blue-tinted, weightless to the point where a woman who wears it forgets she is wearing it until she takes it off. It is the frame I drew for black tie — and then realized she would wear it on Tuesday at lunch.
The titanium is hand-finished to a satin sheen rather than a polish, because polish at this thinness reads as plastic. Satin reads as metal. Fifty-three at the lens, eighteen at the bridge, a temple of one hundred and forty-two — the smallest measurements we offer, and the most deliberate.
