Cut from the same cellulose-acetate blocks Mazzucchelli has poured since 1849. Every Soletti frame is sliced and shaped by hand, then tumbled for seventy-two hours. The polish is what acetate does when it is left alone long enough.

The Brahms is the frame I wear when I am not trying. It is warm tortoise — the colour Mazzucchelli has been pouring for a hundred and seventy years, and the colour every man who buys a second pair of glasses eventually returns to.
I drew it as a square, then made the corners softer than the drawing because the face is not a drawing. Fifty-four millimetres at the lens, nineteen at the bridge, a temple long enough to fall over the ear without pressure. It is a frame for a man who reads, who finishes the wine, who closes the book before the page is finished and remembers where he stopped.
We paired it with the Datejust 36 in steel and yellow gold because both pieces refuse to argue with anything. They are designed to be worn by the same wrist for forty years and to look the same the day they are sold.
