Cut from the same cellulose-acetate blocks Mazzucchelli has poured since 1849. Every Soletti frame is sliced and shaped by hand, then tumbled for seventy-two hours. The polish is what acetate does when it is left alone long enough.

The Bellini is the most Parisian frame in the house. Slim cream acetate — the colour of a morning coffee with too much milk — and a lens cut so light it is almost glass. I drew it for the woman who closes a notebook before dinner, who arrives at a private dinner at eight and stays through the cigarettes.
Fifty-two at the lens, nineteen at the bridge, a temple cut narrow enough to vanish under a chignon. The acetate is poured cream, not painted cream — there is no surface coating, the colour goes all the way through. We tumbled the blocks for the standard seventy-two hours and the polish is what cream acetate does when it is left alone long enough.
We paired it with the Patek Calatrava in white gold because both pieces refuse to argue. They are the kind of objects a woman with nothing to prove allows herself.
